Life and the soul of language.
Although these are different words,
My sentiment is the same.
I imagine that
This energy reaches someone
And that person’s life is somehow uplifted.
The Tango region in Kyoto Prefecture where I was raised
Is a land abundant with nature where energy gathers.
Even now, whether I am indoors,
Or walking around the town,
I live while constantly sensing “nature”.
I watch the sun.
I am simply moved by its magnificent energy.
I create artwork by writing characters,
But words and meaning are not what exist first.
Sentiments exist first.
Then I give form to the energy that I receive from nature,
And what I write takes the shape of words.
That is my mental image.
魂、soul.
All that I have now, I devote to my art.
The calligraphy I wrote with all my soul…
If its energy reaches someone.
If it could be of benefit somehow, I’d be happy.
This is the energy that exists within me.
This artwork was created in the same period as the piece “Life (命 mikoto)”.
